A Place For The Tired Soul ~ Sagada, Philippnes

After Banaune, I head to Sagada in looking forward to see the hanging caves that I've only seen it on television before this.

My body and especially my legs were aching like crazy after the 1 day hike to Batad rice terraces and also I've been suffering from diarrhea for 2 weeks in the Philippines despite of not eating much food there. I was feeling a little emotional and needed a place to rest. This place I figured was the right place to rest and charge up my batteries.

I fall in love with this little town the moment I arrived here. I love the colourful and interesting houses here and the cool weather to sooth the soul. There is quite a number of good restaurant in town but sadly because of my ill stomach I have no appetite to try out most of the food.

One can choose to join the tour to see the Sumaging Cave hanging coffins and some waterfalls. I was just to lazy to walk for long and therefore decided to just explore the town on my own, resting and stopping whenever I like.

Initially after doing some research online I wanted to stay at Residential Lodge but I did not make any pre-booking it was fully booked when I arrived there and the people there suggested another Inn opposite of their place. I spent 2 nights at Indigenous Handicrafts and Inn, 200 pesos per night for a private room (good enough for 2) and a balcony with an amazing view. Free wifi available though signal was a little bit weak but good enough to survive. This was the best place out of all the guesthouse/inn/hostels that I've stayed in the Philippines. The room was extremely clean and is good condition. Highly recommended for those who are heading to Sagada.

Register yourself as a tourist at the Municipal Hall once you arrive. They will give you a map of the town with suggested tour and price on the map.

Visit the highly recommended Sagada Lemon Pie House to try out their signature lemon pie
My lemon pie for 30 pesos. There is nothing to shout about the lemon pie taste.

Yoghurt House - another high recommended place on travel blogs

My yoghurt which was pretty good but not chilled enough. I was have preferred if it was being served at a lower temperature.

Just cause I saw a name of a person I missed on the menu
Sat at the balcony and chilled there during the high tea time
To try out some local specialties try Pinikpikan Haus
My pinikpika meal. Soup was too salty for me >.< Once again, I only managed to finish half of my meal...blame it on my ill stomach

Stopped by the stall to get Halo-halo. Adessert that my Pinay friend asked me not forget to try out when I'm in the Philippines.

25 pesos Halo-halo. Yumss

Log Cabin - the famous place to try out their weekend buffet

Limestone caves.

Visited the Echo Valley hanging coffins on my own because it is not that far and quite a number of people (I read online) who did it themselves without a guide. Felt a little eerie walking past the modern cemetery and took the wrong way. Turned back and luckily I saw some people and followed them and voila I managed to find that place. It is around 20 minutes walk from the town center.
